Practice makes perfect, right?

We all know that the most elite sportspeople, and most intelligent academics have put a lot of time and effort into practicing their skills to get them to the top of their performance. The same theory needs to be remembered when it comes to your exam preparation too!

It can be quite easy to be so caught up in your exam studies that you forget to study, and to practice your exam! But how do you do this?

Practicing past exams is by far the most effective and efficient tactic you can employ to get ready and to prepare for your exam. But, there is more you can do than to just sit there and to answer questions:

Key Tips

Time Yourself – There is a difference to just answer questions that are printed on an old exam paper, and to actually put yourself to the test. If you have the access to old exams (and they should be fairly easy to come by if you speak to your teacher or your tutors) then be sure to sit down, turn your phone onto ‘Plane Mode’ and set a timer to ensure that you are under strict exam conditions. It is this kind of training that will refine your mind to work under the exam conditions that you will actually face on the big day. Act like a sporting professional and put yourself to the test.

Keep Going Just working on one old exam paper will not make you an expert on taking exams. Be sure to practice, practice some more, and then carry on practicing. The more you refine your mind to not only answer questions correctly, but to do so whilst under strict exam conditions. The repetition of this will ensure that when you finally walk into that exam hall, you are fully aware as to what will happen, you will know roughly the type of questions you will face, and you will also feel a sense of calm during a time that many find quite stressful.
