The Best Brain Foods to Eat Whilst Studying
Who doesn’t love food? I don’t know about you, but I love food. And nothing makes me crave food more than a stressful exam and long nights spent reading and studying dusty old books.
Normally, snacking can be seen as quite a negative thing. We are all warned about the dangers of snacking and how that can affect our waistlines, however during our exams snacking on the right foods can give you a massive advantage and can help you to reach your full potential! In this short email, allow us to share with you our top three foods that you should snack on; not only to satisfy your hunger, but to also supercharge your brain too!
Pumpkin Seeds – These powerful little beauties are packed full of powerful antioxidants that not only protect your body but can also support your brain too! They are an excellent source of magnesium, iron, zinc and copper. All of these nutrients can support your brain and have been proven to reduce the chances of impaired brain functions.
Dark Chocolate – Hands up if you love snacking on chocolate? Dark chocolate, and cocoa powder are stashed full of a few brain-boosting compounds including flavonoids, caffeine and antioxidants. In one study including over 900 people, those who ate chocolate more frequently performed better in a series of mental tasks, including some involving memory, than those who rarely ate it. Plus, as a legitimate mood booster chocolate can certainly perk you up during those dull study moments.
Coffee – If you are a coffee lover, then this choice will certainly put a smile on your face! There are two main components in coffee; caffeine and antioxidants. Both of these help to support your brain. Of course, coffee can give you the immediate uplift that increases alertness, improves your mood and even sharpen your concentration, but in the long term the antioxidants have been proven to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s.
