A Level Maths Summer Course
Our A Level Maths Year 13 Preparation Course is designed for students moving from Year 12 into Year 13. Delivered over three intensive online days, the course focuses on strengthening core Year 12 topics, improving mathematical confidence and ensuring students are fully prepared for the demands of the second year of A Level Maths.
Many students complete Year 12 with gaps in their understanding that can make Year 13 significantly more challenging. Topics such as algebra, functions, trigonometry, calculus, mechanics and statistics all form the foundation for the more advanced content studied in the final year. This course provides structured support to revisit these key areas before the new academic year begins.
Throughout the course, students work through carefully selected examples and exam-style questions designed to improve understanding rather than simply memorising methods. Particular attention is given to the topics students commonly find most difficult, helping them build confidence and develop stronger problem-solving skills.
The course is particularly valuable for students who have found Year 12 challenging, wish to improve their predicted grades or want to begin Year 13 from the strongest possible position. By strengthening foundations before September, students are often able to approach new topics with greater confidence and make faster progress throughout their final year.
Sessions are taught by a qualified teacher with extensive experience helping A Level Maths students improve their understanding and examination performance. The focus is on building secure mathematical knowledge, developing effective techniques and preparing students for success in Year 13 and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should students prepare for Year 13 during the summer holidays?
Year 13 is widely regarded as the most demanding part of the A Level Maths course. New topics are introduced quickly, lessons move at a fast pace and students are expected to apply knowledge from Year 12 with confidence.
Students who spend time strengthening their Year 12 foundations during the summer often find it easier to keep up from the start of Year 13. Rather than spending September revisiting old topics, they can focus fully on learning new content and preparing for university applications and examinations.
My child achieved good results in Year 12. Will they still benefit from this course?
Yes. The course is not only designed for students who are struggling. Many high-performing students attend because they want to strengthen key skills before Year 13 begins.
Even students working at A or A* level can benefit from revisiting important concepts, improving problem-solving techniques and ensuring there are no hidden weaknesses that could affect future progress.
What are the most common challenges students face when moving into Year 13 Maths?
One of the biggest challenges is that Year 13 topics build directly upon knowledge from Year 12. Small gaps in understanding can quickly become larger problems when students encounter more advanced algebra, calculus, statistics and mechanics.
Many students also underestimate the increase in difficulty between Year 12 and Year 13. This course is designed to bridge that gap and help students begin the new academic year feeling prepared rather than overwhelmed.
Is one-to-one A Level Maths tuition available after the course?
Yes. Families who would like ongoing support can discuss one-to-one A Level Maths tuition following the course.
Many students use the summer course as a starting point before continuing with personalised tuition throughout Year 13. This allows specific weaknesses to be addressed while providing regular support during one of the most important academic years of a student’s education.
How does this course help students improve their A Level Maths grade?
Improving grades in A Level Maths is rarely about working harder alone. It usually comes from strengthening core understanding, correcting misconceptions and developing confidence when tackling unfamiliar questions.
The course focuses on reinforcing essential Year 12 knowledge, improving mathematical fluency and helping students develop the foundations needed for success in Year 13. By starting the academic year from a stronger position, students are better placed to achieve their target grades in the future.
