Our A Level Maths Christmas Half Term Revision Course gives Year 13 students the perfect opportunity to prepare for mock exams during the festive break. This intensive three-day course covers pure maths, statistics and mechanics, helping students consolidate key topics and strengthen exam technique. By the end of the course, students feel confident, prepared for upcoming assessments and ready for the demands of the spring term.

This course follows the structure of our A Level Maths Revision Course, covering pure maths, mechanics and statistics with focused exam preparation.

What Is Covered in the Christmas Half Term Course?

Mock exams are fast approaching. You need to get ready for any new year mocks. Our A Level Maths Christmas revision will help you prepare. This expert-led course covers students for AQA, Edexcel, OCR and MEI. Lessons build the knowledge needed. You are confident and ready to go.

Here are some topics that could be covered.

    Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences

Arithmetic and geometric sequences are two of the key topics in A-Level maths. An arithmetic sequence grows by adding a constant each time.

A geometric series grows by multiplying a constant ratio by each term. To find a particular term, you begin with the first term and keep using the ratio.

Students usually find some aspects of arithmetic and geometric sequences difficult. These include:

    • Deciding whether a question is geometric or arithmetic.
    • Rearranging and finding the term position, the common difference, or the common ratio.
    • Understand how to move from a finite geometric series to an infinite one. Knowing the conditions under which a series does converge.

    Advanced Probability Concepts

Advanced probability addresses complicated ideas like conditional probability, which looks at the probability of an event occurring given that another event has occurred.

When learning advanced probability, learners often struggle with distinguishing between independent and dependent events, establishing an appropriate conditional context and in making simple mistakes when reversing probabilities from the form in which they are provided.

When students use visual tools and systematic approaches, they should be able to disentangle which probabilities need to be used and when they are applicable. Of course, it will help considerably, if students are required to engage in problem solving regularly so they can understand the relevant ideas in probability and practice enough to develop their confidence in solving more complicated probability problems.

    Understanding Projectiles

Projectile motion studies how an object projected into the air will be affected by gravity, examining two types of motion: horizontal and vertical. Students examine how the initial speed, launch angle, and force of gravity combine to determine the path, maximum height, and overall time of flight of projectiles.

To help students understand projectile problems more successfully, they can draw clear diagrams, label their vector quantities clearly; with ample opportunity to practice to clearly split out each of the components of motion step-by-step; allowing them to practice in a comfortable way and build confidence for examination situations.
